Nicky was first introduced to yoga in 2010 when she was a student in law school and she’s been practicing yoga ever since. Nicky decided to take up teaching so that she could share her passion for yoga with others. Nicky completed Iam Yoga’s 200-hour teacher training program and she also participated in the Blu Matter Project's first ever 25-hour HEAL Training, a yoga for mental health sensitivity training program.
Nicky’s background as a dancer and dance teacher is evident in her teaching style, enabling her to create fluid, dance-like sequences that are physically challenging but also feel good in the body. It is important to Nicky that her students build strength and stability in their yoga practice, but that they also practice safely and in a way that reduces strain on the body. She likes to offer a variety of modifications and encourages her students to make their yoga practice work for them and not the other way around.
In each of her classes, Nicky aims to create a calming, supportive and fun environment, in which students feel challenged but also empowered. Her goal is for each student to leave the room feeling stronger, more centered and in better spirits, than they did when they first walked in.
